Progress at last

After a long period of relative inactivity due to some life issues, I think I am finally back on track. I spent the whole day writing a first draft of chapter 1 and I'm probably one hour 's work away from shipping the first rough draft to Dr. Gorriaran.

What I've run in to so far is that there is just too much"stuff"! Limiting the scope of the dissertation, and particularly of the literature review, is and will continue to be, a challenge. I always like to run those rabbits to ground! ;-) While having a research project that solves world hunger, and uncovers the "Theory of Everything" would be nice, it really is not realistic. This is when it would be nice to have someone looking over my shoulder saying "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?"

Spiritual leadership

Spiritual leadership: A major proposition of spiritual leadership theory is that spiritual leadership is necessary for the transformation to and continued success of learning organizations.

  1. Creating a vision wherein organization members experience a sense of calling in that their life has meaning and makes a difference;
  2. Establishing a social/organizational culture based on altruistic love whereby leaders and followers have genuine care, concern, and appreciation for both self and others, thereby producing a sense of membership and feeling understood and appreciated.

Critical Thinking About Research

I decided to take a break from writing tonight and focus on reading instead. Today I read the first half of Meltzoff. Reading the chapter on research questions solidified my thinking on how to write the statement of the problem. It also pointed out to me that I need to expand the definitions section to include a definition of spirituality, which will definitely beef up the page count for chapter 1.

Chapter 1 draft

Hopefully I'm back on track with getting the draft for chapter 1 done. Tonight I worked on the first draft of the introduction to the problem.
